Welcome to Fitness Excellence
Our family-oriented atmosphere welcomes people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. We encourage our members in their fitness goals, and there is always someone available to answer questions.
We offer weight training and cardio equipment to work out every part of your body! We offer a wide range of equipment, including cardio–treadmills, spin, exercise and recumbent bikes, rowing and elliptical machines–as well as free weights, cable systems, Bosu balls, etc. We keep our equipment clean and well-maintained, and we are committed to offering the best in fitness technology to our members.
We keep our gym and equipment clean. Anyone who spends time here will notice FitEx staff wiping down equipment, doorknobs, banisters and mats. Everyone is expected to help prevent the spread of colds & flu by wiping down equipment after use.
We offer a spacious main floor area with cardio equipment, free weights, cable and machines. More bikes, treadmills and rowing machine are on the mezzanine overlooking the main area.. The spin area upstairs is home to our ever-popular spin classes. Two smaller rooms are used for stretching, abs and mat work, as well as personal training. The Leg Room offers an all-around lower body workout. The classroom upstairs is home to FitExtreme Bootcamp/HIIT classes.
Men’s and Women’s changerooms include lockers, showers, hair dryers, etc.
If you forgot yours, buy a bottle of water or fuel up with our BCAA blend. After your workout, be sure to rehydrate and refuel with one of our specialty protein shakes , made to order on the spot for maximum freshness and nutrition.
We are committed in our pursuit of Excellence by providing our members with an educational, motivational and safe workout environment where they can improve their fitness, health and well-being.
We are OPEN!
We have implemented an OPERATING PROCEDURE using the guidelines provided to us by the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) and WorkSafeBC. Please take the time to read through this document (link below), and check fequently for weekly updates.
We appreciate the continued support and understanding of our members and are excited to be open. It is important that all members follow the rules set out in the operating procedure to ensure the safety of all members and help keep our community safe.
This new normal is very different from how gym use was prior to COVID19.

Monday – Friday 6 am-11 pm
Saturday/Sunday 8 am-4 pm
Also please note:
- We now are offering classes, however smaller numbers and advance booking is required.
- Maximum capacity of the gym is 20 (not including staff or classes which are outside).
- A 90min maximum workout time is still in effect and starts from your arrival time.
- Drop ins are available, however members are given priority.

CELINE LEICHNER – OWNER
Celine is the owner of Fitness Excellence as well as a certified Fitness & Nutrition Expert, Canfitpro Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor Specialist; Innerfit Indoor Cycling Instructor; ISSA Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist, BOSU University graduate and all out fitness enthustiast!
She is a committed trainer for both the experienced gym buffs and those wanting to start.
Her fun and high energy group fitness classes, and personal training sessions provide options for all levels and ages. She’s ready to help inspire and guide you on to building a fitter you, while being there for you every step of the way with her positivity and power!
BEN NEWMAN – MASTER TRAINER
Ben has a bachelors degree in Physical Education specializing in sport performance, rehabilitation and health education.
A personal trainer since 2004 (15+ years) he has over 10,000 hours of direct experience. He has taught classes, groups, teams and individuals from all walks of life.
He has worked within multiple multidisciplinary medical teams, is also son to a physiotherapist, and learned basic massage and stretching techniques when he was a child. He also has his own injury recovery stories if you want to hear them.
Ben has also trained: firefighter, military, military police, police, RCMP and paramedic and his clients have ranged from 13 to almost 90 years old.
Ben is a practicing yogi, teaches meditation and martial arts and is a big believer in balance. He is trained in Zone® nutrition, and worked alongside naturopaths and Holistic nutritionists and has developed his own systems to accelerate fat loss, increase energy, enhance muscular growth and reduce pain.
To top it all off; Ben is genuine, caring, compassionate, and a good laugh. Need something? Ben has you covered.
Jonathan has worked at Fitness Excellence for 4 years and began his journey when he was certified as a Personal Trainer in March 2015. No longer training as much, you can find Jonathan around the gym with a paintbrush in his hand as he gives the gym its new colors or helps Celine with whatever addition or improvement he may have. When not in the gym you can find Jonathan wrestling under his ring name Fire Wasp in PWA Wrestling!
Andrew the newest member of Fitness Excellence. He is a retired Canadian Forces member. Andrew has always been an active person whether it is mountain biking in the summer or skiing in the winter, he enjoys an active life style. When not working Andrew can still be found in the gym working out and interacting with the other members of Fitness Excellence. Andrew is as well a Certified Mountain Bike Instructor and guide.
